Gandhak Rasayan (sometimes spelt Gandhaka Rasayana) is an Ayurvedic preparation based on Sulphur. It is made by combining pure Sulphur with herbal substances. Due to its strong unique rotten-egg-like odour, sulphur/sulfur is known as ‘Gandhak’ in Sanskrit and Hindi. It is a naturally occurring non-metallic element. Sulphur comes in four colours: red, yellow, white, and black. Red and black are now unavailable. The yellow variant is used internally, whereas the white variety is utilised topically.
